Every act of kindness has the power to change a life.

My name is Amra, founder of AmraÉ The Art of Beauty.

Many people see AmraÉ as a luxury fragrance brand. What most people don't know is that behind this brand lives a story that started many years ago.

I was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a child, I experienced the war. My family lost everything. We had to leave our home and flee, not knowing where life would take us.

We lived in refugee camps and travelled through Croatia until we arrived in Málaga, Spain. There we spent three years living in large refugee tents.

One day, my aunt, who was already living in the Netherlands, called us with hope. She told us that the Netherlands was welcoming Bosnian families and offering them a chance to start over.

Before we left Spain, one of my mother's closest friends gave my parents his last savings so we could begin a new life. I will never forget that act of generosity. Someone who had little himself still chose to help someone else.

In 1994 we arrived in the Netherlands through a humanitarian organization. The Netherlands gave my family something priceless: safety, peace and a new beginning. For that I will always be grateful. As I grew older, I began to understand everything my parents had gone through.

When we returned to Bosnia years later, I saw our village destroyed. Houses were gone. Barns had disappeared. Everything people had built with love had been taken away by war.

My parents worked day and night to rebuild our family home from nothing. We were never rich, but my parents taught me something far more valuable than money.

They taught me honesty.
They taught me gratitude.
They taught me that if you can help someone, you should.

Whenever we visited Bosnia and met families who had almost nothing, we bought food and basic necessities whenever we could. It wasn't much, but sometimes enough to help someone through another month.

As I grew older, I realized that there are still countless people around the world who need help.

There are many wonderful charities, but unfortunately there are also people who misuse the kindness of others. Because of the values my parents gave me, I promised myself that if I was ever in a position to help, I wanted to do it honestly, transparently and from the heart.

A few years ago, while I was on holiday in Morocco, something happened that changed me forever. I met an elderly woman. She was ill, disabled and clearly struggling to survive. At first I gave her €20. My brother did the same. She started crying with happiness. Seeing someone cry because of kindness touched something deep inside me. I went back and gave her another €50. She hugged me, kissed my face and thanked me over and over again. I cried a lot for her. That moment has never left me.

Some time later, I was involved in a serious kitchen explosion at home. In that moment something pushed me away, my thoughts immediately went back to that woman, was she the one who saved me with her prayers?

I still think about her often. I don't know if she is still alive, I want to see her again! But she reminded me that kindness always matters. That is why I created The Golden Dragonfly Project. Every support by buying a Dragonfly Neckless can change the whole world for someone.

The dragonfly represents hope, transformation and new beginnings. Through this project, I want to help people and animals who truly need it. Not because I have to. But because someone once helped my family when we needed it most.

Today, AmraÉ is more than a fragrance brand.

It is my way of giving something back to the world.
